Sexuality, Women, and Gender Fieldwork Placements

Providing customized internship placements in the development sector in Cape Town, South Africa and New Delhi, India.

Make your mark, make a difference.

Do you want to supplement your time in the classroom with a dynamic, unique international fieldwork placement?

Let us leverage our extensive experience and networks to help you design the ideal placement. To make sure you gain the experience you need we’ll help you identify a focus area that best suits your goals and interests.

Placements are integrated with SWG coursework, and can be used to fulfill the CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN SEXUALITY, WOMEN AND GENDER IN PSYCHOLOGY AND EDUCATION requirements for Fieldwork and/or the Research Project. This includes:

  • Fieldwork: A minimum of 150 hours of fieldwork/service-learning practicum in a qualifying host organization

  • Research: Options to coordinate additional research for the completion of Research Project requirement may be possible. (Please indicate interest when applying.)

Focus areas:

The flexibility of our program promotes an interdisciplinary approach that looks at issues affecting women and LGBTQIA individuals in:

  • Education,
  • Counseling & Clinical Psychology
  • Public Health
  • Reproductive Psychiatry
  • Sociology
  • Law

Potential placements could look like working on an advocacy campaign for sex workers’ rights, working with LGBT youth, or women and girls affected by HIV.

A deposit of $300 will get you started, and we’ll get to work finding a range of internship options for you to choose from. Our full programme fee is $1,595 and includes additional services including accommodation assistance (monthly rent not included), in-country orientation and support, mentoring, language classes, intern outings and excursions, fundraising tips, a global alumni network, and additional coaching support is available as part of our exclusive package.
